Permits, landmarks, and building rules

Electrical work needs a DOB permit filed by a licensed electrician. In the historic district, exterior changes such as storefront or facade lighting may also need Landmarks Preservation Commission approval. Retail landlords and co-op boards usually require insurance and approved work hours.

  • DOB electrical permits and inspections
  • Storefront lighting planned with landmark rules in mind
  • Landlord approvals and insurance certificates
  • Work scheduled to limit store downtime

FAQ

SoHo electrical questions

Can you work overnight so my store stays open?

Ask us about scheduling. We plan retail work to keep disruption to a minimum and work within building rules.

Does storefront lighting need landmark approval?

It can. Exterior changes on landmark buildings, including facade and storefront lighting, may need LPC approval. We will flag it early.

Do you work in residential lofts too?

Yes. We handle renovations, panels, lighting, and repairs in SoHo lofts and co-ops.

What does a service call cost?

Service calls are $295 for the first hour of diagnosis or repair and $110 for each additional hour. Emergency service is $450 for the first hour.
